This week begins a new series going through the New Testament book of Philippians. In the introduction of this pastoral letter written by the Apostle Paul and Timothy, we see Paul's love for the people expressed during a time when they were apart from one another.
Life is full of good news and bad news. In a time when we are hearing a lot of bad news, this message has some good news gleaned from the writings of the Apostle Paul and Timothy to the Philippians.
In a culture of dichotomies of "this" vs. "that", we can often feel the pull in different directions. How do we live in alignment with others, especially in the midst of such stark polar opposites? In this continuation of the series from the book of Philippians we look at Philippians 2:1-18 and Paul and Timothy's instructions on how to live in alignment with others and with God.
Can the spiritual life be reduced to goals that are measurable and tangible? How do we know if we have arrived at a level of spiritual maturity? The Apostle Paul guides his readers toward a high and lofty, yet attainable goal in this life in Philippians 3:1-16.
How do we navigate through the sometimes rocky paths of life? Learn from the Apostle Paul the value of three types of relationships that prove helpful as we examine Philippians 3:17-21
How do we have peace in the midst of the storm and life's anxious moments? The Apostle Paul provides applicable counsel for us today through his words in Philippians 4:1-7.
Our thoughts shape our motives and decisions, which in turn show themselves through our actions. Thoughts matter! In Philippians 4:8-9, the Apostle Paul and Timothy instruct their readers on positive things upon which to think. Likewise, belief matters! Our beliefs shape our values, morals, and behaviors. If we believe things that are false, our behaviors will reflect this. But how do we find truth in an age of relativism, fake news, and self-proclaimed experts on social media? Truth can be found.
